This morning I popped straight to the gym and completed a 5k on the treadmill after warming up. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my “steady state” cardio days and lately I’ve deemed Tuesday my 5k day. It usually takes about 28-30 minutes because I start pretty slow and then speed up from time to time when I get bored. (I try not to sprint as I do sprints on Mondays and do not want to overwork my heart). It feels nice and refreshing to space out and just steadily jog for a while.
When I returned home I made a huge green smoothie using kale, frozen pineapple and strawberries, coconut flakes, coconut milk and brown rice protein powder. I didn’t measure anything, per usual, and it was lovely.
I’d like to share some of my favorite workout accessories, meaning everything to do with fitness aside from the actual exercise. I completely get that some people are straight down to business and throw on whatever they can, get in their workout and go on with their day. For me, fun accessories help me feel excited about returning to the gym (or the mountain or the park) day in and day out. They remind me that fitness is a very important part of my lifestyle. It helps me tremendously to feel good in what I’m wearing and enjoy the little things like a good protein powder or a new water bottle.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t go on Lululemon rampages spending hundreds of dollars. In fact, the only Lululemon item I own is a headband, which I never use because it instantly slides right off my head.
*My favorite pants to workout in are these stretchy black capri “tights” from Old Navy. They fit SO well and are more flattering than any pair of black stretchy pants I’ve ever tried on in higher end activewear stores…and they are only $20! I have a few pairs.
*Lately I’m loving these tanks I found at Target. I guess you’d say I’m on the curvy side (Hips with a capital H), and when tops are too tight or too short they ride up off my hips while I’m running. Very annoying, so I try to choose tops that are a little flowy and on the longer side.
This is a long one…
